Introducing JAM Network
Hi, we’re the JAM Network!
More than just a community, the jam band scene is a dynamic, traveling culture defined by connection, generosity, and movement. At the JAM Network, we believe this collective energy is a powerful force for good, and we are dedicated to mobilizing it to actively support and sustain frontline social justice movements across the country.
Our Vision: A Catalyst for Activation
Our vision is simple yet profound. The JAM Network envisions a traveling music community where every show, festival, and tour stop becomes a catalyst for reproductive justice, LGBTQIA+ equality, climate action, and other movements that advance justice, dignity, and safety for all.
This is not just about charity; it's about channeling the progressive values held by so many in our scene into concrete, measurable impact. We center our work around critical issues because we believe that:
Reproductive Justice is Essential Healthcare: Everyone deserves the fundamental freedom to make decisions about their own body and future.
LGBTQIA+ Rights are Human Rights: Every person deserves safety, dignity, and full participation in community life.
Climate Change is Real and Urgent: Environmental justice and science-based solutions are critical to protect vulnerable communities and the planet.
Travel is Political: The United States is vast, with stark regional and political divides. Every trip we take, every meal we buy, every night in a hotel quietly funds the policies of the places we visit.
In essence, we are turning the collective goodwill of the jam band scene into a coordinated force for social progress. Our Core Activities: How We Move the Needle.
We translate our mission into action through our three core programs:
1. Raising Funds: Financial Mobilization for Progressive Change
We identify and vet progressive nonprofit organizations and coordinate targeted fundraising campaigns tied to tour schedules and festivals.
What it looks like: We choose non-profits to raise funds for -using QR codes, donation pages, and clear messaging to make giving simple.
The Impact: We choose funds that will make the most impact to the communities in need.
2. Volunteering: Community Engagement on Tour
The jam community is constantly on the move. We make it simple for fans to turn concert attendance into an opportunity for collective action.
What it looks like: We map tour schedules and coordinate partial day volunteer opportunities with local nonprofits (e.g., clinic escorting, mutual aid shifts). These are flexible opportunities that can align with a fan’s travel plans.
The Impact: We facilitate direct, meaningful connections between music fans and on-the-ground volunteer opportunities, providing critical support to local organizations where and when they need it most.
3. Sharing Resources: Actionable Education
We serve as a clear, trusted conduit for cause-based information, making complex issues easy to understand and act upon.
What it looks like: We create and distribute concise, educational materials such as one-page briefs, infographics, and digital toolkits on key issues through social media and while on tour.
The Impact: This empowers the community to understand why their support matters and how to take effective action that extends far beyond a one-off donation.
Join the Movement:
The JAM Network focuses on creating a dedicated, multi-band, multi-festival infrastructure that connects all parts of the scene to justice work. Our goal is to normalize justice-focused giving and volunteering as a core part of jam band culture.
We are not just traveling for the music; we are traveling for a more just world.
